Acquisition

08 April 2022

An acquisition is when one company purchases most or all of another company’s shares to gain control of that company.

Example: One of the freshest examples of this term is today’s Microsoft’s $68.7 billion cash offer for Activision Blizzard. This could be the biggest all-cash acquisition on record in the U.S. and the third or fourth biggest globally deal. When/if it’s completed, Microsoft will become the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony.
